Gem Stone Sink Each basin is made of one of a kind natural gem stones. One solid piece of gemstone large enough to sculpt an entire vessel is very rare and would cost tens of thousands of dollars. Therefore, the imported gemstone is pulverized into ultra fine particles, cleaned and purified. Using a process that has taken two decades to perfect, the gemstone is combined with other natural ores and pigments under extreme pressure. Acrylic gem resins bind the gemstone particles re-creating the hardness and structural integrity of the original. The final product is referred to as reconstituted stabilized gemstone. This is the exact same material found in jewelry stores in rings, watches, and necklaces.
