The Gruen School of Watchmaking created the Gruen Horological Text in 1948 as a means of teaching students how to clean & repair wristwatches. It covers all aspects of watch repair, including advanced topics such as balance poising and hairspring manipulation. Readers new to watch repair will enjoy the hands-on, step by step style of the textbook. Also included are company memos announcing new watch technologies and changes to the procedures for working on watches. Additionally, this book includes the 8 Gruen Technical Bulletins. While this is Gruen text and the Curvex movement is used in examples, it is in no way specific to Gruen watches. The techniques taught apply to all makes of wristwatches.

This great looking watch is vintage 1970s. Its fashioned from sterling silver and has either 18k gold or 18k gold filled trim. It holds up to 18k acid but it is not marked that it is gold. The watch is swiss made by Gruen and is in working order. The face of the watch is gold colored and there is some oxidation or something dark colored around some of the edges. The cuff measures 1 1/8 inch at the widest portion and narrows down to 3/4 of an inch at the back. Its stamped 925, Sterling Silver, and Gruen on the back of the watch. The condition is very good with only the above mentioned discoloration. I have a 6 1/2 inch wrist and it fits me fine.
